New York with Sara was so much fun today! Although we had no plan, we still managed to do a lot, and I'm glad we went (if only for an excuse to get out of Philadelphia!).

We caught an 8 o'clock train, bright and early, made it to Penn Center by eleven. We got broadway tickets half price to La Cage Aux Folles from this place in times square, called "Tkts." They were pretty good seats, Orchestra level. And the show was great. The boys were yummy. mmm. (This can lead into a discussion of whether or not lusting after boys in drag is wrong, but Sara and I came to the conclusion that it's been going on since at least the greeks, so I don't feel bad...ahh, pretty boys).

Before the show we went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The place is so huge, and wonderful. There was a special exhibition there on "Wild Fashion," complete with fur thongs, butterfly-winged dresses made from peacock feather, and leopard handbags that included the head. Needless to say, most of the stuff was cool, but some of it was disturbing. I just can't picture wearing a dead parakeet on my head, but maybe that's since I owned one.

After the show, around six, we wandered Chinatown in search of an open restaurant that served edible food. It was a challenge, but the place we ended up at had good general tso's chicken for five bucks.

And then we came home. I decided that while I love New York, I could never live there. It's on such a huge scale, there's so many people, that eventually it just wears you down. I thought I liked the endless possibilities and people that big cities have to offer, but right now I'm just too tired.

So, back to school tommorrow...but at least I had NYC today. <3
