Mmm, Spring.
Mar. 21st, 2005 07:36 pmHappy first full day of spring, everyone! While it was grey and rather dull, at least it was not very cold.
I had a revelation while painting my nails the other day, instead of doing other things that required more immediate attention. Painting nails is a lot like life. It is also a means to meditation. So don't knock it. I would write it all out, but I don't feel like it. Ask me sometime.
I'm reading the Aeneid. I don't like how they keep knocking Ulysses. In fact, I prefer Odysseus to Aeneas. Stick that in you piety pipe and smoke it, Virgil. Aeneas is all like, I need to sacrifice self interest and serve for the good of my country. Odysseus is like, sure Scylla, why don't you eat a few of my men? It's not like they're actually useful. And I'm tricky, and smart, so I have a right to be self centered. I mean, so what if Odysseus abandoned a crewmate on the cyclops's island? If the crewmate were smart enough he could kill a giant and live off that for three months instead of starving and whining. lol...jackbooted nazi thugs of the ancient world, the Romans.
That had nothing to do with anything. I'll write about real life now. My classes for next year are as follows: Power, Politics and the Novel; The rise of the novel; 2oth Century Lit; and Social Psych. I am not excited for any of them. They are all so homogeneous. Well, except for social psych.
Terry Jones of Monty Python fame is coming on Wednesday for a books signing. "I'm not dead yet."
The formal on Friday was fun but very frustrating on the whole. I'd rather have gone to Q-week party. I won't be going to any parties this week. Or next week. How is there so much work to be done? And I have a cold. Sabishii!
I got interviewed for the DP today about the library. But it's so hard to explain what exactly it is that I and my coworkers do that my response was basically an extended "Well, uhhh....". So look for that!
