Oh, well.

So I interviewed for the TOS position yesterday, and it went really well. The area coordinators are super-nice people, and they really liked me. They would have hired me on the spot had it not been for my class schedule, that did not leave enough morning hours open. I went home and tried to look for later classes, but to no avail. So I didn't get the position. It looks like I will be a Library Intern for the upcoming school year. (Luckily Theresa still wants me). Perhaps it's for the best. School does come first. But now that I don't have it I realized how much I wanted it.

On to some HBP commentary. Mostly on Remus. Don't read if you haven't read the christmas chapter, and you don't know what Tonks has been angsting about.

So I think it's great that JK has him run off with the werewolves, as that's what every fan had already speculated. I wonder if she sometimes gets her ideas from fans if it's not a major character. I similarly think it's great that he doesn't die, and instead gets some love. (Okay, I flipped ahead and saw this). I am a sb/rl fan, but seeing as how Sirius is dead, he can have Tonks as a consolation prize :P Tonks's agsty 360 was a little wierd, but whatevs.

Okay, so I have nothing very intelligent to speculate on. So far this has been one of my favorites of the series. I like all the teenage hormones flyin'. I like all the exposition on Riddle's past because, however disgusting it is, he's one of my favorite characters. I like Snape's character exposition. And finally, Harry is finally shaping up into someone a little interesting. Not to mention, GASP! This book had a plot! I haven't read all the way to the end of the book yet, I'm only on Horcruxes, so please no spoily comments. I do know who died, though, because that was the first thing I saw flipping through the book. *cry* EDIT: Okay, I did think of something intelligent to say. I hate how Tom had absolutely no layers. At all. He was just crazy evil. Period. Why do her villians have zero to naught dimension?

have you ever read a DracoHarry (my favorite couple... rival love, its amusing) story called "The Marks We Bear" I swear, most of the Draco commentary from the end of the book is from that story. Its one of my favorites and I just read it a few days ago, and I swear! It's wrong how much its similar. I mean, Draco angsting about his family, Draco changing... etc etc etc. The only thing that's changed is there's no DracoHarry sex, and he was after someone else.

By the way, have you finished the book? I figured out the ending by halfway through the book, but that's only because my friend spoiled it for me

I just finished!! There was much Draco angst. Poor Draco, I wonder what will happen to him now, what with him not killing Dumbledore.

I also wonder what will happen to Snape? Yes, he killed DD, but was that only because he had to? He didn't kill Harry. Is there still a possibility that he wants to see Voldie dead?

there's always that possiblity that Snape doesn't want Harry dead. There's a possibility that Snape isn't the traitorous dipshit everyone thinks he is. Mainly because of the Unbreakable Vow, Draco losing his nerve... and the fact that he took the pains to tell Harry that he was the HBP and all that jazz.

I love Draco angst. I mean, he was barely in the fifth book... but then he's everywhere in the sixth. It made me happy. ^____^

darnit, onna! finish so I can indulge in some unrestricted squeeing!

Tom had layers! They were just thin ones. I don't remember how far into the penseive scenes the horcruxes chapter is so I won't say anything, but I think his evil is a combo of Dumbledore's ineptitude and Tom's own background.

Yay for squeeing! It can be unrestricted now :)

That's true, if Dumbledore had been more strict with Tom, maybe he wouldn't have turned out the way he did. If someone had paid attention to the kid, they might have been able to counteract the genetics. But he grew up neglected in an Orphanage and obsessed over death because his mother had died and left him there, alone. And all Dumbledore does is analyze the poor kid like he's a mental patient.

I think that's why when Dumbledore drank the potion, he was pleading it was his fault, and to kill him instead. He knows Tom was partially his fault. Ah, poor inept DD.

i dunno... they paid close attention to Tom in school... everyone loved him. ^__^ However, DD was the only person who actually took a closer look, not so much as suspecting, but finding himself just looking more closely.

And the orphanage bit... well, Tom's not the only one with a crappy background. Look at Sirius... would you want to live in that House? But he got chucked out. Harry hasn't had the best time of his life, but he doesn't go around killing people.

Well, I'm not saying what Tom ended up doing is excusable. In the end of course it's his own fault. It just might have been avoidable, is all.

I wish he had started out a little more innocent, though, rather than immediately a psychopath.

I think DD has a problem with disciplining bright, yet mean children in general. Even in the case of the Marauders, because someone should have either expelled them or taken a switch to their backsides. That was some seriously cruel stuff that went down in OotP! And it's not even like they were going to run off and become Death Eaters if they were kicked out.

DD is SO Obi-Wan's secret twin! Use the Force, Harry! Use the Force!

that's the failsafe that it wasn't avoidable. Some people in this world are just born warped. I've known a few of them - and while the people I know are dependable... it doesn't change the fact that they could be some of the world's master criminals and psychopaths.
