Yesterday, after a horrid week, I spent a perfect day at the beach. My family just got up, got into the car, and drove to LBI for the day. We found a particularly isolated spot (probably because we had to walk foreva to get there), where the ocean was right at the beach. It was nice. It was perfect weather yesterday, too, cool breeze and sunny. So I laid out my tatami (well, I call it tatami...you know, it's that straw or bamboo mat that people bring to the beach) and whipped out Furuba 10 and worked on my tan.

I have problems balancing out work time vs. family time vs. friend time. Mostly I have problems with the friend time, because after work I'm so lethargic that I just lay around and don't plan anything. And, well, my family is already there. Plus, they have a vacation planned to Monticello the weekend of Aug. 13th, but in order to go I'd be missing a birthday party and a going-away party. Ah, I'm such a bad friend, I'm sorry.

This has been the summer of high school reversions. I just started taking violin lessons again from my K-12 teacher, Mrs. Brady. It's fun, though. Her kids are so big, they make me feel old.

I've finally decided (as much as I *can* decide, being as it's me) on becoming a librarian after I graduate. Maybe later in life I'll be something else. I'll only be 23 when I finish school, after all. But I know I don't want to go to law school just because and then end up hating it. And someone needs to go into the humanities and help kids to read. I'd only be making 36,000 my first year, which is the down side. But I'd probably only be making that anywhere I go, aside from law and medicine.

Oh, speaking of the library, my boss is gone all week. Thank god.

I was spazzing out on post-graduation salaries, so I went to the career services page and pulled up all their statistics about how much Penn grads make. And 36K is actually high average, so go you. On the other hand, it makes me kind of bitter knowing that a lot of Penn students will make less than the cost of tuition and fees. It's like, what's the point?? I could have gone to any public college and made the same.

oh, well.

I've been meaning to go look up the post graduation salaries. Is that actually on the high end? That's so sad! Although I figured out a while ago that being at Penn is probably a waste of money, and I'd probably have done just as well at Temple.

I like Penn, though. I like the atmosphere, and I like the professors. And the one thing no one can take away from you is your education! So it's a good investment, I think. Plus, graduating from Penn probably gives you a better chance at getting a job. Having an applicant from Penn vs. random public college, I'd think the Penn kid would be a stronger candidate.

And I can't think of any more justifications...lol.
